Irena Kalhousová is a Head of Herzl Center of Israel Studies at Charles University and Associate Professor at Charles University. Before joining the faculty, Irena was an analyst at the Institute for National Security Studies in Tel Aviv, a researcher at the Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya in Israel, a chief analyst at the Prague Security Studies Institute. Irena focuses on the Arab-Israeli conflict, security in the Middle East, and the relations between Central European countries and Israel. Irena has been lecturing at the London School of Economics, the Anglo-American University, and the Metropolitan University Prague, teaching courses on the Middle East and political science. She regularly contributes to Czech and international newspapers and journals and makes live commentaries for Czech TV and radio regarding contemporary Middle-Eastern issues. Irena holds PhD degree from the London School of Economics & Political Science, M.Phil. from the University of Cambridge and BA from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
